Forstau
Forstau is nestled between the Radstädter Tauern and the Dachstein massif at around 930 meters above sea level. The small, idyllic village is particularly known for its tranquillity and unspoilt nature. A highlight of the region is the wild and romantic Forstau Valley, which offers the perfect backdrop for nature lovers with its gentle alpine meadows, dense forests and traditional mountain huts.
In summer, Forstau invites you to enjoy leisurely hikes and alpine experiences. The tours to Vögeialm or Oberhütte am See are particularly popular and offer fantastic mountain panoramas. Mountain bikers and e-bikers will find a variety of routes through the Forstau valley, while families can explore the "Alles Alm" nature adventure trail. Climbing enthusiasts are drawn to the nearby rock faces of the Dachstein region.
In winter, Forstau scores with the small but beautiful Fageralm ski area, which delights with wide pistes, rustic huts and a family-friendly atmosphere. Cross-country skiers and snowshoe hikers will find beautiful, quiet routes in the valley, while tobogganing adventures on the natural toboggan run are a highlight for young and old. The proximity to the large ski areas of the Ski amadé, such as Schladming or Radstadt, also makes Forstau a perfect starting point for winter sports enthusiasts.
