Mostviertel

The Mostviertel is particularly famous for its apple and pear orchards, which have made it the home of "Most", a traditional, fruity drink. In spring, the orchards blossom and transform the valley into a sea of white and pink flowers. In addition to the apple culture, the Mostviertel also has a rich history, which is reflected in its picturesque villages and historic sites. The towns such as Waidhofen an der Ybbs and the many small villages are characterized by typical rural architecture and invite you to take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets. In the many traditional wine taverns, visitors can not only enjoy cider, but also regional specialties such as "Mostbratl" or "Käferbohnen". Hikers get their money's worth on the well-developed trails such as the "Waldviertler Jakobsweg" or the "Ybbstaler Alpenweg" and can always enjoy the view of the impressive nature and rolling hills. Cyclists can explore the region on the "Mostradweg", which leads along the Ybbs and Erlauf rivers and offers magnificent views of the Mostviertel. In winter, the gentle mountains of the Mostviertel region beckon with well-groomed pistes and a variety of winter sports options.
