Ãtztal
The 65-kilometre-long valley stretches from Haiming to Obergurgl and is framed by imposing peaks such as the Wildspitze (3,774 m), the highest mountain in Tyrol. The valley is famous for the discovery of the glacier mummy "Ötzi", which was found in the Ötztal Alps. The Stuibenfall, Tyrol's highest waterfall, and the Piburger See, a picturesque mountain lake near Oetz, are among the most impressive natural highlights.
Ötztal offers a wide range of outdoor activities all year round. Skiers and snowboarders enjoy perfect conditions in the top ski resorts of Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl and the Ötztal Glacier. In summer, hiking trails such as the Ötztaler Urweg or high alpine tours around the glacier region invite you to explore. Mountain bikers appreciate the challenging trails in the Bike Republic Sölden, while action lovers get their money's worth canyoning, rafting in the Ötztaler Ache or in AREA 47, Austria's largest outdoor leisure park.
In addition to sport and nature, the Ötztal also offers relaxation and enjoyment. The Aqua Dome thermal spa in Längenfeld ensures relaxation with its warm thermal pools and impressive Alpine panorama, while regional specialties such as Tiroler Gröstl or Kasspatzen are served in rustic Alpine huts and modern restaurants. Thanks to its diversity, the Ötztal is considered one of the most exciting regions in Tyrol.
