Pitztal
The valley stretches over 40 km from Arzl to Mittelberg and is characterized by imposing peaks such as the Wildspitze (3,774 m), the highest mountain in Tyrol. The Pitztal Glacier offers a unique panoramic view from the "Café 3.440", the highest coffee house in Austria. The Rifflsee area is also home to Tyrol's highest mountain lake, which is a popular destination for hikers and boat trips with its emerald green colors.
The Pitztal offers numerous opportunities for outdoor fans all year round. In winter, the glacier pistes with guaranteed snow, challenging downhill runs such as the Wildspitzbahn piste and great freeride opportunities attract skiers. Cross-country skiers appreciate the high-altitude trails on the glacier, while snowshoe hikers can experience impressive winter landscapes on the Sunna-Alm. In summer, hiking trails such as the Zirbensteig lead through fragrant stone pine forests, and climbers can let off steam on the Glacier World Route or in the XP Adventure Park climbing park.
Despite its alpine extremes, the Pitztal is a place of peace and relaxation. Traditional mountain huts such as the Taschachalm serve Tyrolean specialties such as Kaiserschmarrn and bacon dumplings, while events such as the Pitztal Glacier Festival or the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail bring the region to life. The combination of high alpine experience and unspoilt nature makes the Pitztal a special retreat.
