The Kaiser Mountains consist of two striking mountain ranges, the Wilder Kaiser and the Zahmer Kaiser with the Niederkaiser to the south-east. It is one of the most famous mountain ranges in the Eastern Alps and is very popular with climbers and mountaineers as well as hikers. Most of the Kaiser Mountains are a nature reserve and are not accessible by road or cable car. On the western side of the Kaiser Mountains is the enchanting Hintersteiner See. The lake was formed during the last ice age and lies at an altitude of 882 m above sea level. Underground springs fill the lake with crystal-clear water. Fancy a dip?
